177......was the total number of hugs I gave/received at BABSCon this last weekend. Oh glorious day! (Well, three days, really.)
Pictured: Left: statoose (me); right: xjuggernaughtx.
This fine, loudly-dressed gentleman with me is my friend, xjuggernaughtx, who I met through the Friendship is Magic fanfiction community over a year ago, and got to meet in real life for the first time at the con in California.
Giving out free hugs was by far the best part of the convention, for me. I was pleasantly surprised at the different kinds of hugs I got – and I mean that in all seriousness! There was fun, big hugs from bros; emotional, happy hugs to people who needed them; quiet, affectionate hugs from shy people; and even five hugs fro ma family passing by who weren't even at the hotel for the convention. That last one was particularly cool. Nobody can deny a free hug wh
Sheeeeeepy!Hey, got a moment and want to see something cute? Check out this character I commissioned over the week!
She's a sheep-girl named Woolly! Conceived in my mind and brought to life by the wonderful RacoonKun. I am super happy with how she turned out. When it comes to commissions, the end result will never be exactly what one had in mind, but I tell you, this is the spitting imagine of what I imagined.
If you like it, go on over to the original deviation page and drop a comment and favorite, and I totally encourage everyone to check out the rest of RacoonKun's sweet gallery. My favorites of his are the humanized pony drawings specific to certain episodes from season 4:
Plushiiieees! The ever awesome WhiteDove-Creations is running a plushie giveaway! I'm entering, and though I obviously hope to win, I encourage you all to give it a shot as well.
And for the sake of making this journal a bit entertaining, here's a JIF– I mean, GIF:

Ermahgerd, yesyesyesyesyesyeysyes...I don't know if anyone who follows me will be even close to as excited as I am right now, but to the one of you who is, you know how I feel when I watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s97B97dIpDQ

If anyone out there knows how I feel, come here, let's dance to that song at the end of the trailer. Right now, come on!
It All Makes Sense NowI'm actually rather excited to see how Equestria Girls pans out. Looks like fun, once you get past the whole purple-skinned humans thing!
Well, That Escalated QuicklyAh yes, "April Fools".
Welp, to the bullshit-proof shelter once more! Who wants french toast? 'Cause I'm makin' french toast. We can cuddle, too, if ya like.
I have a ponysa now. Ponysas are cool.Ever wondered what I'd look like were I a pony? Of course you have!
Ta-daaaa! Look at his scarf! Who needs socks or sweaters? S'all about scarves!
Someday, I'll post a photograph of myself, and you'll see the resemblance. No cutie mark for now, though... Thanks to Quanno3 for vectoring him. Much love, man.
In other news, you know what sucks? Stories ending. I've just recently finished what is now one of my all-time favorite fanfics (The Final Quest of Star Swirl the Bearded, a story with the bitterest and sweetest of bittersweet endings), and I'm steadily making my way through the final book in the Harry Potter series, so my feels are somewhat shaky right now. You guys ever have that? Took me two whole days to fully recover form the ending of Order of the Phoenix.
Oh hey, look, another finale-related journal! As if you didn't already have too many of those to
completely ignore, like I doread patiently.
Just wanted to throw my two cents in. What's different here is that the faces on the pennies that make up those two cents are happy ones!
I really enjoyed the finale. True, it was a bit rushed, but I feel they did everything they could within the 21-minute boundary.
My reactions in chronological order were:
ERMAHGERD A TWI-SONG! YES!
ERMAHGERD TWI TAP DANCING!
ERMAHGERD COOL PLOTLINE!
ERMAHGERD ANOTHER EPIC TWI-SONG! YES!
ERMAHGERD FRIENDSHIP IS AWESOME!
ERMAHGERD ANOTHER AWESOME SONG! YEHEHES!
ERMAHGERD A CELESTIA SONG! YEEEEEEEEEEESSSS!
ERMAHGERD TWILIGHT IS BEST PRINCESS!
ERMAHGERD I CAN'T WAIT FOR SEASON 4!
Seriously, though, there was a lot of awesome in this episode. Seeing little Twily growing up – seeing Celestia actually bow down to her – fills me with joy. I actually cried more than once during the songs. That's a sign of an awes

Tips For Commission ArtistsHello! I thought of making this small guide, based from my personal experience, to give tips to artists, mostly beginners, to be more successful at selling commissions, since seeing from my previous journal many had difficulty with it. So here are some tips to help boosting your sales.
Have your commission info somewhere visible
Possibly, people won't even know you are taking commissions or if they are open if you don't put your commission info somewhere they can see. You can do this in a journal, that I mostly recommend, since it will be showing into your watcher's inboxes and most of your watchers probably rarely visit your profile page. You could still also use the commission widget, or donation poll to write your info. You can also link to your commission info in your signature or the artist's comment of new drawings you upload.
Keep it simple
Don't add too many unnecessary rules or in
Do's and don'ts for flawless interactionNot much to say about this.
Just some basic tips and tricks for flawless interaction on DeviantArt
Watch people when you honestly find them interesting.
Watch your friends, even if they don't have amazing art. It helps you stay updated with their progress.
Watch groups. They'll offer you a fine selection of art you're interested in, and will help you discover new (interesting) artists.
Check the faves of people you watch. As you like their work, you might have similar tastes in art. Checking their faves might help you find cool art.
Recommend art from people that you watch for a Daily Deviation (if good art, of course).
Uncheck all boxes when watching. There's nothing more disappointing than an empty watch.

White Knights and Why They're HarmfulThis is quite a huge/concerning topic, and I know that not all deviants share the same point of view, and I respect that. I'm sure that there are many other journals touching upon this subject, but because I personally have had very bad experiences with it, I want to inform my watchers about it myself! Hope it helps some.
So, for the past year or so I've noticed that some people saying that they specifically dislike a lot of "popular" dA artists due to the overprotective behavior of their watchers.
I personally find it very sad that people are turned off by my artwork simply because they associate my username with "[my] white knights".
There's no way I can possibly control what my fanbase does or says, and this can lead to some very awkward situations and conflicts on my end.
Don't get me wrong...I love each and every one of my watchers, in fact without you guys my artistic life would be incredibly more lackluster. I'm sure ma
5 ways to get into the creative zoneDear, deviantart fellow artists
Sometimes we tend to feel unmotivated and uninspired to do anything... but there are also those blissful moments of creativity, when inspiration strikes and time goes by unnoticed. Not getting distracted, going with the flow, so merged in the process, that there is no need to do anything else until the work gets done. But how to get in that mood more often..? Here are some ways/tips that helped me over the time.
1. Prepare your work space
Make the place you work as comfortable and useful as possible. Clean the desk from all the clutter, gather your tools in a most accessible way, organize in order to avoid mess. Set the according light, have some inspiring quotes, goals written around.
2. Avoid distractions
Turn off the internet. Or close all the tabs, you don’t need. Especially, social media sites. Don’t check the news/e-mail/mobile phone all the time. Get in the place where
Triggers, Triggers Everywhere"Trigger warning."
If you browse art on dA or Tumblr, you've probably seen these words before.
What exactly is a trigger?
Triggers come in multiple flavors.
Trauma triggersA person who has experienced a severe traumatic event—which isn't just limited to war veterans—may find that a particular sensory experience sends them back to that trauma. Although as camelopardalisinblue rightfully points out, it may not always be a full-scale flashback. Plenty of grey areas. Learn more about PTSD here.
I knew someone who had been abused in a room with fish-themed wallpaper. (Details changed to protect privacy.) So while something like the Jesus fish was tolerable because it was so abstract, they found real fish uncomfortable, and sudden exposure to a similar type of fish drawin
